PostSubject: The New Blood   The New Blood I_icon_minitimeFri Aug 05, 2016 5:30 pm

Jane checked her pocket watch, frowning at the time. The first round of new servants would be arriving soon. Or should have been. She had to admit, the sudden cold front that had dropped a couple of feet of snow would prove a hindrance to the carriages bringing people in. In time, the drifts would completely eclipse the trail that led to Blackmoor's gates, and cut off the estate until the spring thaw. If the rest of them wanted to remain employed, they would do well to arrive before winter truly set in.

Jane snapped the watch closed and tucked it into her right pocket of her dark blue coat. She looked out of the window of the library, which had a good view of the courtyard, and the gates beyond. The guards had been told to leave them open until everyone had arrived. Icicles had formed on the metal, and made them look like the open jaws of a hungry beast. She rolled her eyes at her silly imagination. Far worse lay inside the walls.

After a few minutes she spied the first of the carriages. Beyond the gates, the carriages had stopped to unload passengers, who were by now gathering their luggage. She counted more than half of the people she'd hired. Better than she expected with the snows. She straightened herself and descended the stairs from the upper floor of the library and headed for the foyer, passing a few of the other servants along the way. Jane stopped at the doors, and opened the front doors with a small grunt.

Now she just had to wait for the new blood.

Even though it wasn't such a long way from the gate to the door of the Blackmoor manor, Helga wrapped her thick scarf around her neck before stepping out of the carriage and staring at her luggage, as if expecting that it would carry itself. She was not even a little bit prepared to live in a house full of people she didn't know. But it was good money, warm meals and a roof over her head. She took a deep breath before before picking up her two rather small suitcases, mostly filled with clothes a pair of shoes, and made her way through the snowy path ahead of her.
Helga tried to make sure she had her feet firmly set on the stone floor before she took another step. She wasn't sure she was the first one there but, judging by the lack of marks on the snow, she figured that was most likely the case. And that almost made her walk slower, even though the weather pushed her body towards the warmth of the windless interior of he house.
She looked up as the gap between the doors started to widen and she could see the inside of the manor, along with their host for the night. She knew her, she had been the one who questioned her about her abilities and availability. Well, there she was. Available and, if she was being honest, ready to fall asleep comfortably in a decent bed.

Megara leaned back in the carriage as it gently swayed from side to side, with her were two other women and one man. She sighed and glanced around the carriage restlessly, what she wouldn't give to step out and stretch. Being cooped up in a carriage with total strangers just wasn't her style. All she could do was silently hope that they were almost at their destination so she could get out. The longer she stayed in here, the closer she became to actually just flinging the door open and running the rest of the way. As if the carriage had read her mind it slowly crested to a stop and no sooner had the carriage doors opened then Megara was out. She didn't care that she was being rude to her fellow passengers, all she wanted was to be out. The first thing she noticed besides the awful cold were the other passengers who had been in the other carriages. She sighed and was silently grateful that she had worn a thick green coat to cover herself, her dress while long sleeved wouldn't do a whole lot to protect her from the cold. Seeing her two cases of luggage she hurried forward and grabbed them, with a mumbled word of thanks to the driver who had removed them. She heard footsteps and glanced over her shoulder to see a forbidding woman standing at the front door, wearing a blue coat. This had to be Miss. Porter the head maid and Megara silently wondered just what kind of person she was.
--
Aurora watched the brunette woman in the carriage move about restlessly. It was almost fascinating to watch, but she said nothing merely lowered her gaze to her lap. Obviously the woman was anxious to leave the carriage and start working, perhaps she was just stressed? All the same as soon as the carriage rolled to a halt, the brunette woman was the first out. Aurora waited patiently for the other two to leave and then followed suit. Her eyes swept the courtyard, it was cold but she hardly felt the chill. Being a vampire did have some perks, but she couldn't exactly go around and say as much to anyone. She nervously twisted the blood ring on her finger and waited for her luggage to be handed over to her. Her hands easily gripped the suitcases that she was handed and then she rolled them towards the front entrance. She felt eyes on her and glanced over to see Noctis standing not too far away from her. It had been almost a century since she had seen him, and her hands tightened briefly on her suitcase. Of course he was going to be working with her. While the two had met, there had always been a mutual dislike between the two of them and still was. Of all the vampires she had to run into it just had to be him, Mr. I'm too Handsome and Pompous. She turned her back on him, determined not to give him the satisfaction of having annoyed her. No she was going to ignore him and try to enjoy herself at the Manor...somehow. Her eyes swung up to the front entrance and she hesitated upon seeing the imposing woman standing there. Well hopefully she wouldn't regret agreeing to work here...she could hope anyway.
--
Odette jerked awake as the carriage finally came to a halt, she felt tired and cranky. Having not received much sleep the night before, although who could blame her? Sleeping while traveling just didn't agree with her as she was used to a more cultured lifestyle. She sighed and followed after the brunette woman, nearly stumbling as she did so. The cold air hit her as soon as she alighted from the carriage and she made a face. What she wouldn't give for a nice mug of hot cocoa and a bundle of blankets to curl up under. But now that she was here, she knew she wouldn't get such a luxury after all she was now one of the hired help. The thought alone just annoyed her, but she had no choice! If she had, she'd be somewhere nice and warm without a care in the world. Instead she was forced to actually having to work to make a living...what kind of life was that? The lone suitcase she had she eagerly grabbed, inside she had a few of her only possessions that she'd been able to keep. Things that she'd guard with her very life if need be, not that she was very talented at anything. She held the suitcase close to her as she made her way through the building crowd. At least there weren't a whole lot of people, had there been Odette might have panicked. She didn't do well with crowds, they made her nervous and prone to panic attacks. So she kept her distance and watched as the doors opened to reveal a woman wearing a navy blue coat. Well at least the woman had some fashion sense, but Odette was a little nervous to see the uniforms they'd have to wear.
--
Sinbad let out a sigh of relief as the carriage slowed to a stop, any longer and he might have freaked. He watched as the brunette woman all but ran out of the carriage, and slowly followed suit. It was cold but nothing he wasn't already used too. Although judging by the looks of his former passengers they didn't like the cold. He almost smirked, the cold was something he actually enjoyed as he'd grown up in it. Or well in a town that had regular ice storms, so he was fine with it. He yawned and stretched, being in that carriage for too long had made him a little stiff. So he was extremely grateful to be out of it, he grabbed his bags from the driver and scanned the crowd. Nakoma had to be there somewhere and he smiled when he saw her standing off to the side. "Hey Nakoma." He said easily once he had joined her side and slung an arm around her shoulders. It was good to have someone else there who could help keep an eye on him. The last thing he wanted was to accidentally hurt someone and so long as Nakoma was with him, he felt like he'd be fine. Plus she had been his friend since they were kids, and he trusted her a lot. "Enjoy the ride?" He asked in a low voice as he looked her over to make sure she wasn't hurt at all. Had she been, he wouldn't have taken it very well at all...he never did.

Naveen took a long deep breath as he awoke, blinking for a bit while his amber toned eyes got accostumed to the light of day. In reality, he had been having quite a hard time falling asleep over the past couple of weeks. Every moment, ever simple instance of rest he could get was precious, for it didn't take long before darkness crept in and consumed his dreams. This time, however, he had slept peacefully, which was a very pleasant surprise. He was certain he could go through the day now. It was an utmost important need after all, seeing how much he needed this job.

A familiar purr made the young man smile warmly, his gaze meeting the azure tinted cat he had brough along after his fateful trip to Exeter. Felicity had apparently been sleeping as well, judging by the way she yawned and stretched her lean frame. She would hopefully be given some space to move around the mannor, too. Even though she was blind, she deserved some comfort after her last owner's predicament. After he spent some seconds carressing her, Naveen gently picked the feline up and hid her under his coat, so to keep her warm before finally opening the door and leaving the carriage.

It was just as he had expected the outside of the carriage would be: freezing cold. Surely, Europe was far colder than Brazil, but this was taking it a bit too far. He could see his breath slowly vanish into the air in the form of steam each time he exhaled, so he made sure to hold his coat shut extra tight as he walked forward, avoiding heavy steps. After all, getting snow into his shoes was the last thing he could ask for, considering how cold the weather actually was. Hopefully, the inside of the mannor would be warmer.

Perhaps he had been foolish to accept working as a groundskeeper. How would he manage working outside with such cold conditions? He'd surely grow ill in an instant, not being used to the cold. At least if he died frozen it would mean he would know where he was going to, so he would have to settle in. Maybe he would be luckier than he thought, though. So, with the most optimistic smile, the brazilian stepped inside the mannor, allowing Felicity's little head to pop out of his coat as he embraced the warmer air.

Noctis was still pretending to sleep as the carriage he was in eventually arrived at his new home and working place. After all he didn´t know anything about the people who were just arriving with him and that way he might be able to learn a few interesting things about them. Even if he was actually sleeping though the moment the carriage stopped he would have surely woken up. Opening his deep blue eyes he looked out of the window and saw a blonde woman already making her way to the head housekeeper.

He as well got out of the carriage as one of the first and walked right up to his luggage which he picked up easily. As well he was just about to make his way inside the mannor when he noticed a familar face. "Look who we have here.", he thought to himself as he gave Aurora a sassy smirk once their eyes met. Actually he was normally rather a simple nice guy. However with this things appeared to always be diffrent from usual and common.

Being in the carriage with Penelope's things was pretty nerve wracking, but it was at least pretty comfortable. She did see on who was on the carriage with her and she slowly waved to them in a shy way, but hoped that this job would be successful. She thought of being in the place, and she did imagine it being beautiful and large, like her home was. She also could imagine her making some friends with some is the co-workers she was going to work with. It was a bit of a bumpy ridex and hoped that she would be there soon, working at the giant house, like she did with her maid, Penelope. She did get a bit bored on the ride, so, she took out one of her books and started to read it and started to fall into a small snooze. As the carraige stopped, she did see a couple of creatures, and started to think that this was this was not real at all, but, if she had to work with ghosts and other supernaturals, she would. She did step inside the manor, with her bag and all, being a little nervous but, still had determination to work extra hard for the lady she was going to be working with.

As the upcoming nurse was going into the carriage, she felt as though the ride was going to be a long one. She wished that she was at the place by now since it was getting pretty uncomfortable and the carraige was actually pretty small. Luckily, she did bring some medicine with her in case someone was getting some motion sickness while being on the way there. Although she was excited to work at the job, she still wore her nurse outfit, with some cleavage sticking out. She did hope that she would be arriving at the manor soon, so, she would at least get her office set up for the people in case one gets hurt. Although her legs may be used for sex appeal, she would be more focused on the job and getting people better. She was looking at her co-workers and slightly waved at them and started to look out the window, with a soft sigh. She did feel a little cold in the carriage, so, she puts on a blanket to keep warm while being on the ride. As soon as she got by the manor, she was looking at it, thinking that this place was huge, but, felt as though she could somewhat handle it. She does not on how many people would show up sick, so, she had to be prepared to take care of many people as she could. "I'm ready for this." She said to herself, as she went inside.

Before she left for the carriage, she did say good bye to her parents and once she was inside, she did not know that she was going to be involved with a lot of other workers. Although she did feel a bit nervous to work due to her seeing ghosts along the way, she tried to get some confidence in herself to make sure that her hard work would be useful. She held onto her gardening tools incase the ride would get a bit bumpy and she saw that the outdoors was full of snow. It not only felt freezing, but also, she wished that she brought a blanket or a jacket to keep warm. She did hope that once she got into the manor, there would be some hot tea to drink. She did see a ghost on the way there and tried to ignore it without accidentally hitting someone in the face. While being on the carriage still, she wondered if the place was going to be big or small, thinking that the garden would be big or small as well. As soon as the carraige came to a stop, she stepped inside and saw that ghosts were coming to her. "Stay away." She whimpered softly, but, she came here to work, not worry about some ghosts or anything going after her. She thought she would take the opportunity to use her "gift" to learn about the memories of the place, but for now, she waited for the woman to come and show her some instructions.

Ella smiled when she finally saw the gate of Blackmoor Manor. Walking almost the entire way to the manor, she definitely felt happy about finally arriving. But at the same time she also knew that this would be her new home for a hopefully long time and that she would have to get along with everything and everyone as good and as soon as possible. All these people would either be her colleagues or her employers.
She walked through the gate and approached the others. Apparently the majority were new servants, just like Ella. She tried to smile at some, making maybe a friend the first day, but didn't get much attention or reaction. Nevertheless she tried to stay positive. I am exhausted and tired from the journey and so are they. Almost everyone had more than one case of luggage, she looked down at her small bag, feeling even smaller than before.
However, that was the reason she came to Blackmoor. Nevermind Ella. A new start and new chances! Bed, food, work and maybe even nice colleagues. It was all ahead of her.
The noticed the young woman in the dark blue coat. It had to be Miss Porter, the housekeeper.
"Hello Miss Porter? My name is Ella. Ella Smith! I am one of the new housemaids."

Vanessa looked outside of the window and saw all the new servants. Maids, stable boys and many more.
Great. I thought I'd be able to enjoy the perks of being the only new one. She surely wasn't delighted to see the new staff. From head to toe she eyed the young women up and had to laugh about some of them.
Heeey! Look at that! A smile spread across her face as she spotted some attractive men. My new colleagues don't seem that bad at all! Looks like Porter or the Allencourt made some good decisions.
Vanessa looked in the mirror and styled her hair quickly. Staisfied with what she saw in the mirror, she fastly went downstairs. As she arrived at the gate, she put her best fake smile on an welcomed some of the girls and guys.
"Hello! I'm Vanessa Drake and welcome to Blackmoor Manor. I'm also fairly new here!"

As she looked at some of the new girls she remembered her arrival a couple of days earlier. Some of them seemed nervous, but she wasn't. Vanessa knew what she wanted and what she was there for. There was no reason to be nervous or scared.

Amalthea tugged her coat tighter around her shivering small frame. She had never been one for cold weather, but the air around Blackmoor was colder than anything she remembered and it bit into her, down to the bone. She looked out of the carriage window and saw the estate looming overhead. Whether it was the cold or the sheer size of Blackmoor, her breath was stole away. The estate was a behemoth, dark and sharp against the snowy landscape. The statues on the building were exquisitely cut and terrifying in form. The windows, from what she could make out, had designs on them like pictures from a fairy tale. Despite the intimidating aura, she felt drawn to it all--besides being taken there by carriage that was.

Said carriage eventually stopped before the entrance and everyone started to file out. Amalthea was one of the last, and grabbed her luggage before heading off towards the doors where Miss Porter waited for them all. Looking around at her new co-workers, she wondered what they thought of Blackmoor and what could've brought them to it. Conversations for the future, she decided, if they were so inclined. For the moment, she stopped with the rest of them before their new superior and waited for instruction.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Jane watched the new servants unload with a shrewd eye. A couple seemed to know each other already; those, she observed, were most certainly of the same nature of a few others at Blackmoor. The ring on the finger of one of them confirmed it. Jane knew that craftwork. One girl appeared to be in distress and talking to herself--a sensitive perhaps. Lady Allencourt would be pleased to know that.

Many of them started introducing themselves--perhaps indicative of an outgoing nature. That had a good chance of working against them, if they tried to mix with the wrong company. Jane started to speak before being cut off by a voice next to her. She glanced over at Miss Drake, and frowned. Such impropriety.

"Thank you, Miss Drake." Jane said, giving the other woman a sharp look. Turning back to the new arrivals, she continued. "Your rooms have been assigned and prepared for you. You will have today to settle in, meet with your supervisors, and learn about your new duties here. Tomorrow they will begin in earnest. I expect good work from you all. Now follow me to your new quarters."

Jane turned away from the others and walked inside, expecting them to follow at once.

As Ariel was floating around the area, she saw she was seeing all sorts of people, were they newcomers of the manor? Now she was really curious as to her thinking that this place would be a good new home for her, so, without trying to get the people to notice her the first time, she took a deep breath and flew into the mansion, looking around for a good place to hide so, people won't be able to see right away. "This will be fun." She said to herself with a smirk as she flew into the house. "Wow, nice home this place has, perhaps the home could provide me some sanctuary." She thought to herself as she was floating around. Perhaps the aura did give her a sense of opportunity.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The brunette young woman, Belle did raise an eyebrow at the unexpected remark coming from some other brunette, to whom she didn't know until now. She did look up at Jane and started to follow her and thought of this as an opportunity to try out the maid job she wanted. She did look around at the building and she felt as though although this place was big, she could handle it. She did handle a giant job like cleaning up the home at her originally home before with Penelope. She did look around at the place and all the statues looked pretty ancient and very historical. She was not sure if this woman was into that kind of thing, but, it certainly looked nice. She did look behind at her co-workers, and thought that they seemed good enough to work with. She did give out a small wave and continued to walk behind Jane.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Holly, hearing the woman's instructions to follow her, nodded as she was following her and the rest of the group. She didn't expect that the boss to be sort of strict, but, she did have to what she had to do to keep the job, and as a newly nurse at the place, she learned that she had to be patient with people. She did hold onto her bag as she started to follow her. She looked around at the place and thought that it was huge compared to what it looked on the outside of the house. "Whoa.." She thought to herself she was looking at the pictures, and cocked an eyebrow at them. "Damn, did people die here or something?" She thought to herself as she continued to follow her.
----------------------------------------------------------------

As Lina looked at the group that she was going to be working with, she thought that they looked like a hard-working bunch, hopefully. She still kept quiet as she was holding her arms around her chest, trying to stay warm. There was no time to use her power to read deeply into the house's history. Hopefully, when she goes to her corridor, she'll learn more about the place. While walking behind her, she saw that some ghosts were following her, and she looked behind her quickly and used her hand to "shoo" them away. "Go on, scram." She whispered, hoping that no one could hear her while walking.
